Looking for special skincare tips for the big day?
Do you want to use only homemade products to look your best?
Then you are the right place!
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival celebrated on the last day of Shravan month which falls in August. This festival is all about celebrating the bond of siblings. People pray to god, perform various rituals, wear new and traditional clothes, and so on.

But Raksha Bandhan is also an occasion where you need to look your best. Reasons may be many, but looking best for your social media photos definitely is one of them!
Isn’t it?
However, before you put on your new outfit and makeup there is a vital step. Yes, it is skincare. Don’t miss out on your skincare routine before you cover your pretty face with makeup.
So, here is my short guide on skincare with home ingredients:
Cleansing with Turmeric and chickpea powder

All through the day, our skin accumulates lots of dirt and oil. The tiny pores on our face get clogged with dirt. This makes our face look oily and dull. Don’t know about you guys, but I feel irritated when my face gets oily. So cleansing is that one step you just cannot avoid.
And, don’t worry, you don’t need to go for costly cleansers. Just move to the kitchen and grab the containers of turmeric and chickpea powder. But yes, you cannot use the commercial turmeric powder for this. Only pure turmeric! So, check that out.
Mix the chickpea flour with the turmeric to make a paste. The chickpea flour is used in many traditional face packs. And, Turmeric! Well, I would need to write a separate blog about the properties of Turmeric. But yes, turmeric has antioxidant properties which lighten the dark spots and reduces acne.
Keep the paste on your face for 15 minutes and wash it off with cold water. You will feel clean and refreshed.
Exfoliation with sugar and lemon

If you are an oily skin beauty then go for mild exfoliation with a sugar and lemon mixture. But ladies with dry and sensitive skin should consult with a dermatologist before exfoliating the skin. This procedure cleanses those stubborn oil particles in the skin and removes the dead skincells.

Toning with rosewater

Every Indian house has a bottle of rosewater. So, now it’s time you use it for something other than cooking. Yes, rosewater is a natural toner. You can use it to hydrate your skin and look brighter. Moreover, the rosewater is gentle on the skin, unlike commercial toners.
Moisturize with cucumber or coconut oil

It is the ending of Shravan, so yeah it may still be raining outside. The moisture content in the air is slightly high. So, you need the right moisturizer.
Well, you can go for the cucumber or coconut oil. Make a paste of the cucumber and apply it on the skin. If you are using coconut oil, apply it gently. But remember to use only unadulterated coconut oil.
You can go for additional skin care treatments according to your skin type. Apply serums and quality moisturizers if your skin needs them. But the important thing is to get a good 8 hours of sleep. If you don’t sleep well then no skincare or beauty product can make you look like a diva.
And, don’t stress out.
It’s Raksha Bandhan! You are at home. You have your family with you. So, have fun. For one day take leave from work. Your happiness is more important than any other thing. If you are happy and relaxed, you don’t need any kind of beauty product.
Your smile is the best makeup. Always remember that.
