You must be thinking how sleeping is related to your studies?
But let me tell you if you do not sleep well it is going to impact not only your study hours but your whole day. You will feel lethargic and drowsy all the time.
Moreover, when you don’t get enough sleep your brain doesn’t get the rest it needs. And so, when you study in such a condition, your brain isn’t able to work properly.
Mostly, this will affect your concentration. You will feel drowsy when you are studying something and will continuously feel like going to bed. And, you will go to bed with your book and sleep!
Now don’t tell you haven’t done that!
I know you have.
So, for not doing this the next time, you will have to get a proper sleep.
When you sleep at night properly you will feel more active and energetic. This will make you determined to finish your study goals while you are studying at home.
2. Set a goal
You cannot accomplish any work without setting a goal. Even if you are studying at home, you need to set a few goals before you get on with your studying.
So, how will you set your study goals?
Before you go sit on your study area ask yourself a few questions!
- Why I am studying?
- What I will learn today?
- What else you do you know about the topic?
- How many chapters do you wish to complete within that day?
Once you have all the answers to these questions, you will be able to determine your study goals for the day easily. When you are determined to complete your studying, you won’t require any kind of studying at home study tips.
You will finish everything all by yourself.
So, always set a goal before you start studying at home and stick to it.
3. Study at a fixed time
To say that there are no distractions at home is so wrong. Sometimes, I feel that there are more distractions at home then at a library!
However, you need to have a fixed time for your study.
This will be different for different households. So, choose a time which is comfortable for you.
I have a few friends who like to study at night. Like after 11 pm! They say that at night there are fewer noises and there is no one to disturb. They complete their sleep during the daytime.
And there are my other friends who like to study early in the morning like around 3-4 am in the morning. I am one of them. I remember and understand better when I study during these hours.
Do you know according to Ayurveda and other holy Hindu scriptures this is the best time to study? Our mind is most active during this time phase. That’s why you dream more during these hours.
So, you will have to choose your own timings. You must check that the time you choose has the least distractions. You will need to concentrate. So, keep that in mind!
And try to follow the same time everyday!
Once your body and mind get used to the time, you will automatically feel like studying.
So, no need of any motivations.
4. Have healthy food
During the pre-exam time, most of us are too worried about completing and covering every topic in the syllabus. We even try to skip food and sleep. However, that’s something you should not do at all.
Your body and brain needs fuel to work properly. If you are hungry, you will not be able to focus on your studying. So, eat properly at the right time.
Before the exams, try to shift towards healthier foods so that you don’t end up having stomach aches on the exam days.
Eat light and healthy snacks. Try to avoid eating while studying. When you are eating your food you must concentrate in eating! Don’t think about your studies or exams while you are eating.
Once done, take a walk and then go back to studying.
If you have to cook your own food, then cook them before your study hours. Don’t go cooking in between studying.
This will be a complete waste of time. So, cook your meals beforehand.

Your bed is your biggest enemy for your studying!
Have a seperate studying area which is not that cozy like your bed. But if you are using a chair and a desk, ensure that they are comfortable for you.
As you will be sitting on the chair for hours, you should make sure, your legs and back don’t become sore. So, have some cushions for support.
Also, don’t sit continuously for hours and hours.
Stand up and stroll around in your room for a bit and then resume your studying. In this way, you will be doing better studying at home.

If you are at home, obviously you will have to take care of several chores. So, just take care of them before your studying hours.

- First you need to set a task for yourself. Since you are student, just set the task of completing a topic. Take a sheet and write down all the topics you are planning for the day. Make a box for ticking after you are done with the topic.
- Then make an oath that you will spend a complete 25 minutes on fully concentrating on this topic. During this 25 minutes, you will not get distracted no matter what happens. I know you can do it! It is just 25 minutes, anyway! Now set the timer for 25 minutes.
- Then just work on it. Immerse yourself in the topic during the 25 minutes. Give your full focus on studying.
- When the timer is off. Give a tick on the topic you just completed.
- Now take a short break of 5 minutes. Have some coffee, do some breathing exercise, meditate or take a short walk. Give your brain the rest it needs.
- Repeat this process again and again till you finish your studying hours.
